Why do you need a Will?
A ‘Will’ is the key legal document that sets out what your wishes are after you pass away. A Will should be drafted by an experienced lawyer.
At Clohesy Legal we feel it is simply good manners to provide clear instructions to your loved ones concerning how your assets are to be divided.
The Will sets out who will ‘administer’ your estate and deals with the difficult task of distributing your assets.
The Will can also tell us who will look after your young children if both parents were to pass away.
A well planned Will protects your assets and minimises the risk of expensive legal disputes concerning inheritance.
When you need a Will:
– If you have children
– If someone is financially dependent on you
– If you have children from a previous marriage
– If you get married or separate from your spouse
– After you purchase a new home
– If you have a life insurance policy
– If you have an investment portfolio
– If you have money in Superannuation or a Trust
What Clohesy Legal can do for you?
We will spend time with you to determine what your final wishes are. We will then advise how we can best make sure those wishes are achieved. This is known as ‘Estate Planning’.
Sometimes a simple Will leaving everything to your spouse and then your kids is sufficient. Other people may prefer to establish a more complex Will (known as a Testamentary Trust) which provides extra protection and tax advantages for the beneficiaries of your Will.
